Hey there!

I'm Auvie,

a graphic design major who studied for my bachelor's of design at Vancouver Island University. I love to illustrate, camp, work, and swim! I own two trucks and love to chuck them into the dirt. Marine life, machines, and logos are my strongest design points, where I best specialize with illustrative posters, conceptualization, logistics for designs such as flow of movement, and landscape settings.

I kickstarted my design journey in fall 2021 when I began my bachelor's of design in graphic design at Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo, B.C. There, I learned a broad range of digital, business, and communication skills, while exploring a couple off-topic electives. My greatest field of strength is illustration, particularly vector work in Adobe Illustrator. Our cohort were primarily taught through Adobe's creative suite, but we dipped into other programs as well such as Figma, Clip Studio, Krita, and the now discontinued Atom.

My Career: CHLY 101.7FM

I have worked with several private clients during my university studies, but my most prominent experience came through my summer 2024 internship with the local Nanaimo radio station CHLY 101.7FM. Over the summer, I had the opportunity to work with VIU Nanaimo's Campus Community Radio Station CHLY 101.7FM. My internship required me to complete 120 hours of work, which included a variety of promotional and community centred projects. This experience included a poster series, social media posts with variants, training illustrations, a band logo, and a standup tent table card. I complete my experience on the 19th of August. I had an absolute blast working in the field in an environment filled with a healthy mix of professionalism and laughter.
